Bill McKay

Bill McKay, Dean of Arts, Humanities and Communication at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington, received his degrees in Pianoforte Performance from the University of Washington and the Academy of Texas at Austin. Read More

Prior to his administrative engagement in 1998, he was a fellow member of the music faculty at Columbia Basin Higher. Mr. McKay remains agile every bit a working artist.  He has been a invitee artist with the Mid-Columbia Symphony on several occasions dating back to having won the Young Artist Competition resulting in 2 "first movement" concerto performances with the orchestra.  Since moving back to the Tri-Cities afterwards his time in Texas, he has performed the Beethoven Concerto #5, the Carnival of the Animals past Saint Saens with Libby Watrous, the Gershwin Concerto in F, likewise as the Rhapsody in Blue and Mozart's Piano Concerto Grand. 453 with the Mid-Columbia Symphony.   Additionally, he has as well performed the Rhapsody in Bluish with the Inland Northwest Musicians and twice with the Columbia Bowl Concert Band.  As a jazz pianist, he plays in the Columbia Basin Jazz Orchestra (CBJO) which has backed upward jazz artists under the umbrella of the Jazz Unlimited Festival at CBC.   In 2018, he and Dr. Jody Graves from Eastern Washington University fabricated their two-piano team debut with a performance of the Carnival of the Animals at CBC with the INWM and Lee Freese conducting.

As an arts administrator, in 2005, he was appointed by Governor Locke as a commissioner for the Washington State Arts Commission and in 2007 was re-appointed past Governor Gregoire and continues to remain active in Washington State arts advocacy.  At Columbia Bowl College, forth with the faculty and staff, he oversees the Jazz Unlimited Festival, The Summer Showcase Series, The Community Lecture Series and The Esvelt Gallery.  Bill continues to be active on various community arts boards.

Along with the love of the arts I savor traveling the world to explore and experience diverse cultures and countries. I was able to combine these two interests by coordinating several study tours to Europe, Neat U.k., Ireland and Australia. Although I am not an instructor, I go to be a role of the learning procedure when students and/or customs members become to experience traveling to a unlike country for the first fourth dimension.

Tracy Walker

Professor

Professor Tracy Walker began her career with Columbia Basin College in 2001 where she currently teaches painting, cartoon, illustration, and the art history sequence and every bit well as Fine art Appreciation and 2D-Pattern in the past. Her piece of work has been shown locally and regionally including solo shows at Shoreline Community College, Gallery Ane in Ellensburg Washington, and Wenatchee Valley Higher. Tracy Walker received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Fundamental Washington University in Ellensburg Washington and her Master of Fine Fine art from the University of Cincinnati. Tracy's commitment to student success has been shown with her participation in various committees including, but not limited to,Co-Chair of the Curriculum Committee, Chair of the Tenure Review Commission, member of Kinesthesia Senate, Arts and Humanities Cadre Team for Guided Pathways, and years of participation as advisor of the Fine art Club. She has also been agile within the community past donating her time with GearUp and guest educator at Hawthorn Court retirement community. Tracy believes art should exist a part of everyday life and her role is to introduce art to the students, across campus and to the community

Rachel Smith

Associate Professor

Rachel Smith is a multidisciplinary artist, educator and curator whose artwork investigate the complexities of the private and the collective as it relates to retention, processes, and materials. Her artwork uses ephemeral materials inside mixed media, collage, functioning and installation works.

Smith received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Idaho and Bachelor of Fine art in Commercial Fine art from Walla Walla Academy. She currently maintains a studio practice in Walla Walla, WA. and is an Associate Professor of Art at Columbia Basin Higher in Pasco, WA and teaches Art Appreciation, 2D Design, Graphic Design and Professional Practices.

Kayleigh Lang

Kayleigh Lang (b. 1990) is an artist currently located in Walla Walla, Washington. They grew up in Cheyenne, WY, and graduated with a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Wyoming. In 2010, they spent a year studying Japanese art and language at Kobe Higher in Nishinomiya, Nihon. In 2016, they graduated with an MFA in Interdisciplinary Fine art from Washington State University. Over the years I take had one man or been involved with group shows at the Henry Gallery (Academy of Washington), Whatcom Museum (Bellingham, Wash.), Bellevue Arts Museum (Bellevue,Wash.), University of Minnesota (Duluth, Minn.), Gallery at the Park (Richland,WA) and Combine Art Collective (Walla Walla, Wash.). I received a Master of Fine arts from Washington State University and Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Western Oregon University. I currently teach ceramics at Columbia Basin College, cartoon at Walla Walla Community Higher and serve as a Board Member of Fine art Walla (Walla Walla,Wash.).

Collin Wilson, DMA, is the director of the Columbia Basin College Jazz Ensemble and Conductor of the CBC Concert Ring. As an Associate Professor of Music at Columbia Basin College he as well directs the jazz combos, teaches saxophone, jazz history and music theory. Read More

He has previously served on the faculties at Central Washington University, the Academy of Idaho, and Clark Community College. Collin earned a Doctorate in Saxophone Performance from the Academy of Illinois, where he studied with prolific recording artists Chip McNeill and Debra Richtmeyer, likewise as a Principal of Music (Illinois) and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Oregon. Collin has performed with award winning artists including Paquito D'Rivera, Terell Stafford, Jim Pugh, Keith Carlock, The Harry James Orchestra, and The Platters and has toured Asia and Europe with Majestic Caribbean area Cruise Lines.

Duties at CBC include pedagogy second year music theory and audible skills, music appreciation, and conducting the Columbia Basin College Orchestra. During the summer months, Mr.Walker is on faculty for numerous workshops, festivals, and institutes throughout the Northwest including the Walla Walla Suzuki Institute, Montana Suzuki Institute, Pipestone Summer Music Military camp,Boise'southward All-Thing-Cello Army camp, and the Music, Meadows, and MountainsRetreat. In addition, he has works as a kinesthesia member with the Youth Excellence on Stage University in collaboration with AmericanVoices, a US not-authorities, non-turn a profit, cultural commutation organization. Through this organization, he has conducted, traveled, and taught cello in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan. Mr. Walker earned Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Cello Performance from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a Main of Music degree from Cardinal Washington University focusing on Orchestral Conducting and Cello Performance. Sheila maintains a private piano studio and currently serves equally secretary for the Tri-Cities Music Teacher Association.  She is likewise on the lath for the Mid-Columbia Symphony.  Her greatest passion is accompanying.  She has played for several shows with CBC Summer Showcase, Mid-Columbia Musical Theatre and Richland Players and accompanies choir and orchestra students at several area high schools.

Dave earned his Bachelor's and Master'southward Degrees at Primal Washington University. Later several successful years teaching at the loftier schoolhouse level, he is now in his 26th year equally Director of Choral Instruction at Columbia Basin College, where he directs the song jazz ensemble FreeForm, the Desertones Chamber Choir, and the Concert Choir. Dave is a frequently requested vocal clinician in choral and jazz genres and has been a clinician at numerous festivals throughout the U.S. & Canada and manager of the 2009 Colorado All-State Jazz Choir. Dave was the 1993 "Teacher of the Twelvemonth" at Rogers HS in Spokane and the 2013 recipient of the Tenuto Award at the Frank DeMiero Jazz Festival.

In Los Angeles Bryan studied with Dee Wallace (mother in E.T.) in 2000. He's worked scenes with Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Mariel Hemingway and Beau Bridges. Bryan has been directed past Kevin J. Fox (Blair Witch) in the Mini-series Jackson Horn, and by Tim Matheson (Animal House) in Hell Swarm. Bryan has also won awards foreach of his short films The 11th Commandment and Revelation.

Equally a teaching artist I have worked with the Kennedy Heart American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), Idaho State Thespians, Humboldt State University, Coeur D'Alene High School, InlandNorthwest Theatre Arts Festival and the HEAR ME! Monologue Showcase in NYC. As well as working asa managing director and didactics artist I also served as the acquaintance artistic director at The Rude Mechanicals in Eastern Washington for two seasons.

Topics I teach include Acting methodologies of Kelly Quinnett, Stanislavski's Organization, Uta Hagen, Baron Kelly, Carol Rosenfeld, and Michael Chekhov with focus on objectives and atmospheres. Other topics include children'due south theatre, phase intimacy, directing, arts direction, and animal motility. I am a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC).
